A great place to begin is The Hub on Canal in the Canal Street Historic District. Now part of The HUB Arts Collective, The Hub brings artists and visitors together through exhibitions, classes, workshops, demonstrations, and special programming.

Nearby, Arts on Douglas presents rotating exhibitions in a contemporary gallery space operated by Atlantic Center for the Arts. Exhibitions change throughout the year, giving returning visitors opportunities to discover new artists and work in a variety of media.

Art lovers can also explore additional galleries and studios throughout the Canal Street Historic District and other parts of the New Smyrna Beach Area.

Create Something of Your Own

Experiencing art doesn't have to stop at viewing someone else's work. Visitors can also find opportunities to create something of their own.

Jane's Art Center, also part of The HUB Arts Collective, combines gallery space with a working clay studio where visitors can explore ceramics firsthand. Classes include hand-building and wheel throwing, along with workshops led by visiting artists, with options for different experience levels.

Another distinctive creative experience can be found at the Bob Ross Art Workshop & Gallery. Opened by Bob Ross in New Smyrna Beach in 1993, the workshop remains in its original location and displays a large collection of his original oil paintings.

The workshop continues to teach the Bob Ross Wet-on-Wet painting technique, with landscape, seascape, floral, and wildlife classes as well as special programs and instructor training. Class schedules vary, so advance registration is recommended.

Discover Art Outdoors

Art also extends beyond New Smyrna Beach's galleries and studios. The area's collection of public murals provides another way to experience its creative side while exploring local neighborhoods.

A self-guided trip along the New Smyrna Beach Area Mural Trail introduces visitors to colorful works celebrating local culture, coastal heritage, and the area's creative spirit.

Murals can be found around Canal Street, Flagler Avenue, and other locations throughout the area. Visitors can explore the trail at their own pace using the itinerary's details and GPS directions to find each stop.

Celebrate Art at Annual Events

The New Smyrna Beach Area's creative community takes center stage during several major arts events held throughout the year.

In the fall, the New Smyrna Beach Plein Air Paint Out celebrates art inspired by the area's natural environment. The 16th annual event, scheduled for October 20–24, 2026, brings artists outdoors to capture scenes ranging from downtown views to coastal landscapes. Visitors can watch art take shape throughout the multi-day event and explore exhibitions and opportunities to purchase original work.

In November, the Flamingo Follies Holiday Art Show fills Flagler Avenue with artists and craftspeople displaying their work. The 36th annual Flamingo Follies is scheduled for November 14–15, 2026.

January brings IMAGES: A Festival of the Arts, presented by Atlantic Center for the Arts in partnership with the City of New Smyrna Beach. Held in Historic Downtown New Smyrna Beach, the free festival brings together more than 250 artists alongside live entertainment, creative education activities, and food vendors. The 51st annual festival is scheduled for January 22–24, 2027.

Each February, Art Fiesta brings artists and makers to Riverside Drive at Riverside Park, with work displayed in a variety of media. The 64th annual Art Fiesta took place in 2026, continuing a New Smyrna Beach tradition that spans more than six decades.
