Women’s History Month

Created in 1987 and celebrated annually in March, Women’s History Month is not the only time to uplift and recognize women’s efforts and contributions. In the New Smyrna Beach area, we are proud to support our women-owned businesses and female leaders who help shape our communities year round.

Look Charmed - New Smyrna Beach Area, FLMeet Zoe Neuner at her boutique Look Charmed and its sister store Charmed by the Sea located along  Flagler Avenue’s shopping and entertainment district. Zoe has been in the fashion industry for 25 years and loves making customers leave her store feeling more confident than when they entered. More than just a business owner, Zoe is a vibrant supporter of the community and active volunteer.

Just a few buildings down, shoppers can find Shannon Mathis at her boutique Gypsy Vibes. Filled with crystals, dream catchers and accessories fit for free spirits, Gypsy Vibes is a Zen-inspired, boho-chic boutique. Shannon loves to work with her clients and offers one-on-one healing sessions as well as group events like sound baths and Full Moon Community Circles. She is driven by her store's motto “go. do. love” and hopes to bring that to every interaction she has.

Clean Karma - New Smyrna Beach Area, FLTucked away from Flagler Ave is a bright green storefront where you can find Elaine Stathakis. Elaine owns Clean Karma, a jewelry store where everything is handmade by women and profits benefit local charities. A jack of all trades, Elaine worked in the tech industry in San Francisco before moving to the New Smyrna Beach area. Now, she spends her days handcrafting one-of-a-kind jewelry and seeking inspiration from other women who have been part of the Flagler Avenue community.

Across the Indian River, you’ll find Kelly Knight, owner of the Yoga Lounge Studio. Kelly has her 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher certification and loves sharing her passion for yoga with all her students. Her studio is known as an oasis of calm and offers a passionate, friendly and supportive community for yogis of all levels. Looking to meditate outside the studio space? Yoga Lounge offers classes in Riverside Park and even has Yoga Retreats!

Two women-owned businesses are neighbors in the Victoria Building at 412 Canal Street: Little Griddle and Wild Oats and Billy Goats. Little Griddle stays true to the historic district by offering nostalgic bites for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Wild Oats and Billy Goats is the whimsical art gallery and boutique right next-door featuring works from numerous female artists. The neighboring Hub on Canal is also home to the works of many female artists, who also spend time in the studio where visitors can stop in and watch the magic happen!
