Fourth of July Weekend brings one of the most energetic stretches of summer to the New Smyrna Beach Area. Fireworks, live music, beach days, and outdoor gatherings help shape a holiday weekend centered around time outside and along the coast. For those spending the holiday in the area, here are a few ways to make the most of it.

Fireworks, Live Music & Holiday Events

Fireworks celebrations take place throughout the New Smyrna Beach Area during the holiday weekend, creating multiple ways to experience the Fourth of July across the destination.

In New Smyrna Beach, the Fourth of July celebration at Riverside Park brings live entertainment, food vendors, and a fireworks display along the riverfront. The evening also includes a free concert by THE PLAYERS, adding to the festive atmosphere leading into the fireworks spectacular over the Intracoastal Waterway.

Nearby,  Port Orange Parks & Recreation hosts another holiday celebration featuring live entertainment, family activities, and fireworks that continue the weekend energy across the area.

In Edgewater, Menard-May Park features live entertainment, DJs, food vendors, retail booths, and family-friendly activities throughout the celebration. The nearby City Hall Complex also offers a dedicated fireworks viewing area along Riverside Drive.

Throughout the weekend, additional seasonal events continue across the destination, including the BBQ Challenge along Flagler Avenue on July 5, where barbecue, outdoor dining, and beachside energy come together in the heart of the Beach District.

Beach Days & Summer Traditions

The beaches throughout the New Smyrna Beach Area each bring a different atmosphere to Fourth of July Weekend, allowing visitors to choose between lively beach districts, active outdoor recreation, and quieter natural shoreline settings.

The Beach District surrounding Flagler Avenue typically becomes one of the most active areas during the holiday weekend. Beach access, restaurants, bars, local shops, and seasonal events all remain within walking distance, creating a vibrant setting that easily carries from daytime beach activities into evening celebrations and fireworks.

Further north, North Beach offers a setting shaped by outdoor recreation and water activities. Surfing, fishing, biking, and beach sports remain popular throughout the area, while nearby Smyrna Dunes Park provides accessible boardwalks, nature trails, scenic inlet views, and a dog-friendly beach area. Both the Beach District and North Beach also allow beach driving in designated areas, adding another layer to the holiday weekend experience.

South Beach offers a quieter pace, with areas like Bethune Beach and Canaveral National Seashore creating a more relaxed coastal environment without beach driving. Wider natural shoreline areas, dunes, and protected scenery help shape a slower atmosphere away from larger crowds and busier beach access points.

During busy holiday weekends, arriving earlier in the day can help simplify parking and beach access. The official NSB App provides live beach parking updates and ramp access information to help visitors plan ahead before heading to the shoreline.

Explore Beyond the Beach

For those spending additional time in the New Smyrna Beach Area beyond the holiday weekend itself, outdoor recreation, local arts, and eco experiences continue well beyond the shoreline.

Parks, nature trails, and waterways throughout the area create opportunities for hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding, boating, and wildlife viewing across both the Atlantic coastline and the Indian River Lagoon ecosystem. Guided eco tours and water excursions also offer additional ways to experience the area’s natural side during the summer season. Experiences through the Marine Discovery Center and Get Up And Go Kayaking provide opportunities to explore the waterways, mangroves, and ecosystems connected to the Indian River Lagoon.

Away from the water, the NSB Downtown Arts District adds another layer to the destination with local galleries, murals, shops, studios, and community events that continue throughout the summer months.

However the weekend comes together, the Fourth of July in the New Smyrna Beach Area continues to center around time outside, coastal traditions, waterfront celebrations, and summer experiences shared along the water.
