On October 31, the Smyrna Surfari Club will host its annual Spooktacular Surf Contest at the Flagler Avenue Boardwalk. The first surf heat begins at 8:30 a.m., with Halloween costumes joining the action later in the day.

A costume contest takes place following the final surf heat, with separate adult and children's divisions. Contestants have to surf a wave while wearing their costumes, putting a distinctly New Smyrna Beach spin on a classic Halloween tradition.
