A unique experience in this area is driving on the beach, with the sea breeze riffling through your hair as you cruise along the shoreline. You can find access ramps to drivable beaches on Beachway Avenue, Crawford Road, Flagler Avenue, Third Avenue, and 27th Avenue. From May 1 until October 31, motor vehicles are permitted on the sand between 8 am and 7 pm (or sundown, whichever is earlier). In the winter months, the hours are from sunrise to sunset. To drive on the beach, there's a $20 daily fee, which includes one reentry on the same day. Make sure you keep your headlights on and stick to the 10 mph speed limit. You also must have at least one window down—but that rule isn’t difficult to follow because feeling the refreshing salt air is the main draw of driving down the beach, right?
